I need them, madly. I've been trying my hand at grading these patterns and the fact that I have super-beginner Photoshop skills is killing me. For all you gurus, a) I hate (read: am really envious of) you; and b) you would be roflol'ing all night to hear me. . . "Oh! I can put my layers in folders! Excellent!" "Oh, I can preview the curve before drawing it! Wow!"

That said, I'm finally at a pretty good place with the Gymboree-Style top. I've drafted sizes 12m - 6, and put them in a new section of the sidebar. I wanted "DRAFT" to actually be "DRAFT," but I couldn't figure out how to do that in the sidebar. (See paragraph above for the general state of my computer skills.)

Anway, enough caveating. I hope someone is brave enough to try and will please give me some feedback. I got a lovely photo via email last night of a beautiful Far Far Away version of the Beach Party top, and it made my night! What a brave soul to try this unheard-of lady's pattern on such pretty fabric, but it was darling (*whew*).

Happy Sewing!

Thanks so much Kristen! I will definitely show you how things turn out. I hear you with the limited Photoshop skills - you're already beyond mine! LOL.

I totally hear you! ISO mad photoshopping skills, too! That halter/beach top pattern is so gorgeous, too, by the way. If you ever decide to draft larger sizes please let me know! I would totally by one if you are selling them. Or if you have any tips on how to enlarge the 24m. I have one daughter who is a 3T and one who is a 4T. I'm so happy I found your blog, I'll definitely be back!!!

Thank you all for your comments - you are too kind! And I'm thinking this whole photoshop problem is a business opportunity for someone - Photoshop 101a: for Those Who'd Rather Be at a Sewing Machine (or something like that.)

Hey Kristen, I made the top over the weekend and it turned out great! I've posted it on my blog: http://sewcando.blogspot.com/

I just found your blog. Its great, I'm always trying to make free patterns for little one from her existing clothes, sometimes they work and sometimes they dont! But I love it when I find one on line to use! I was reading this blog about you hating photoshop. Before kids I used to be a photographer/graphic designer and your problem is that photoshop isn't really the best program out there for what you are trying to do! there are easier programs! Try Freehand (its an old one but great for drawing) its been superseded by illustrator and should come with your CS3 or 4 (I'm guessing that you bought this to get photoshop). Feel free to email me if you want any pointers! Anything to help out someone whos making patterns! and such cute ones!

Claire - thank you so much for your kind comment and helpful advice. We have Photoshop 7.0 from years ago when my husband needed it for work. I'm totally "green" in this arena so any advice is much appreciated!

i leaned photoshop (what i know of it) in highschool. they never really taught us how to use it just gave us a project and we learned on the way, so you are likely doing great.

on the other hand if you want some teaching of how to use photoshop you can try http://www.lynda.com/
they offer some of the intro lessons (hours worth) for free in hopes to get you hooked and then you pay for using the site. but it has loads of programs on there that you can learn. and even the intro to most programs that they offer for free educational vids of is really helpfull (like when i was in collage and fell behind in my computer class learning illustrater i used the free lynda vids.) i later failed that class but that had everything to do with my missing about 50% of class due to health and not the lessons online.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you - did you get the error when you tried to download it or when you tried to open the file? I just tried it from here and it worked, so maybe Wuala is having hiccups or something.

Either way, send me your email address and I'll mail you the file!
