Finally! Let the beach parties begin!

Note: The original beach party dress & top pattern was written for 24m only, but a draft version of a multisize pattern is here. The initial feedback I've gotten is that it may run a little small, so be sure to check the dimensions before cutting!

Whew. I drew these pattern pieces in photoshop what feels like an eternity ago, but it's taken me weeks to get the whole pattern together. I present (da-da-da-DA!) the Beach Party Top & Dress pattern. Now YOUR little one, too, can stay cool all summer. We're in Louisiana so I know something about staying cool.

Beach Party Top & Dress

I've called this pattern a draft because I like to print the whole thing out and sew it up once more before it's done done, and I haven't done that. But if you want to try making it I'd *love* any questions, feedback, etc! Happy Sewing :)

I saw this on Craft Gossip site (comment above) & had to come over & have a look. I have downloaded the file as well, however it's winter here in Australia, so will have to wait some months before I start. However, the pattern & finished dress look awesome!

I just started reading your blog and am excited to make this pattern!! Thank you for sharing!!

Any tips for sizing it down for a 12mo. size?

I have a 24 month old and we live in hot, humid, sweltering Louisiana as well! She needs some cool outfits for the summer. Cool as in "not freakin hot" as well as "cool, cat, cool."

Thanks for the pattern!

This is so adorable!!! I may need to make a bunch for my 2 year old nieces... Thanks!

Wow, thank you all so much for your kind comments. . . I'm blushing over here!

Sunnymommie & Jessica. . . I'm hoping to eventually grade the pattern to other sizes but I'm pretty slow. I based the bodice width on Ottobre's size charts (I set it to exactly 1/2 the size 86 chest size since it should fit snuggly).

I think a good start point would be to plan for the bodice to be ~9 5/8" wide for 12m, and 11" wide for 4T. Or, you could wait and be my pattern testers when I get the other sizes done ;)

lalepop - isn't it miserable right now? I think we all (myself, my daughter, and my dog) almost had heat stroke today.

So cute! Thank you for posting the pattern. I found your blog a couple weeks ago and have been waiting for that pattern :) I can't wait to try it out for my skinny 3 yr old.

I LOVE this pattern! It is adorable! My little girl is 4...any tips for adapting the pattern to a 4T?

7:05 PM

After reading more of the comments, I noticed that you have plans to make the pattern in more sizes. YEA! I also would be interested in pattern testing a 4T. This is so cute!!!

I just finished two dresses and one tank from this pattern for my girls, and I love the way they turned out! Easy pattern to understand, thanks. I posted them over on flickr... with the tag lit

LOVE this dress/top. I printed the pattern out today and have it almost completed. Just need to add the straps and hem it. It fits my 3 1/2 year old great! I just added a little length to the elastic and it's perfect. I made it in some red, white and blue floral for 4th of July and the inside has a red, white, and blue stripe. I even tried my hand at making bias tape for the first time. It wasn't that difficult at all. So anyway, thanks for the pattern. I'll be posting pics to my blog as soon as I have it finished.

10:06 PM

Lila and Jessica - your dresses/tops are so cute! Well, mostly your kids are cute but the outfits are pretty adorable, too. Thank you for sharing. I have been pulling my hair out grading this one and it makes it worth it to see how darling they are turning out.

And Melissa - I'm so glad to hear it's worked for your 3 1/2 year old and that you were successful with the bias tape. I have a slight addiction to it :) Can't wait to see pictures.

Absolutely adorable. I'm off to make one for my 2-year old and try to wing a larger one for my 4-year old. Thank you so much for sharing such an awesome pattern!

I made one of these for my youngest for Fourth of July. I blogged it here

Thank you for sharing this pattern. It is one of those deceptive projects that looks so complicated when you're looking at the finished project, but your pattern was so well written and easy to use it was a breeze to make. Thank you. I see many more of these in my future. (did I mention I've got three little girls?)

10:16 AM

Thanks for the awesome pattern, cant wait to try it!
